Restoration Story

Updated: Mar 31

Today you will hear an encouraging message from Mrs. Lashawn Jennings. I admire her a lot. She has a poise and smile that truly captures a room. I asked her a series of questions to encourage any women who may not feel like they can be restored. You will hear how the Lord has truly restored her, and I pray you are encouraged that with the Lord, He also does this for you. Enjoy!

Questions that we asked:

"Who is Lashawn Jennings?"

"In three words, describe your life so far?"

"How did God restore you?"

"When did you meet your husband?"

"How did you battle with a lack of faith during your waiting?"

"What things did you do while you waited on God?"

"How have you witnessed miracles in your life?"

"What encouragement would you give a woman who does not feel like a wife?"

"What encouragement would you give a woman who does not feel like a wife?"

"How do you believe with your story, you can encourage Christian women to pursue all things through Christ?"

If I could describe myself, I would say that LaShawn is a wife, a strong mother of three children, a grandmother of two, a godmother, and a person who loves to give others a chance. I am a huggable and loveable person and a visual learner. I love the Lord, enjoy directing and ministering in music, as I am a current coordinator. I enjoy serving and being obedient to the will of God. I appreciate helping other churches build their ministry, especially when they are just getting started. I love to cook for my family. I love bringing people together for prayer because it is what I live for mainly. After all, this is how God has kept me by praying, maintaining my faith, and believing that he has everything under control. I an overcomer, a fighter, a survivor who has never given up. My faith is stronger, my confidence in God is amazing, and I know who I am in Christ.

A prayer warrior who has been restored. This word restored I see differently now. Firstly, God had to cause me to dream one day so that I could see who I was and how my life was headed towards destruction. When God puts you in front of a mirror so that you can see how dirty you are on the inside it will make you change fast. I had to love me, I had to know how to be in that alone place. I had to know how to believe in God and not what men say. I had to go back to all patrons and ask them to forgive me for leading them the wrong way because they knew that I was a church girl, oh and I loved the Lord, but l wasn’t living according to God’s word.

God restored me by changing my mindset and by allowing me to mature in Him. God had to teach me how to be a godly woman and not just a church girl, to be a woman who knows the Bible and to live it, and not a church girl who’s just a hearer of the Bible. I met my husband in the year 2000. Honestly, I did not battle with a lack of faith as I waited on my husband. For I always knew that a change was coming I just had to change my mindset. While I waited on God to change my mindset and restore my love life, so I continued serving God and allowing him to work on me. I’ve seen God do some amazing stuff. One of them was with my husband and I reuniting back together.

After being divorced for five years, I’ve watched God move on my mother's and nephew’s behalf through the hardest moments. I know Him to be a miracle worker. If I could encourage any woman who doesn't feel like a wife, I would say first you have to find the root of the problem of why you do not feel like a wife? In Ephesians 5:33, the Bible commands wives to respect their husbands. This means revering, admiring, and honoring their husbands. A good wife values her husband's opinions, admires his values and character, and is considerate of his needs, such as the need for self-confidence and the need to be needed.

So we must be ready to be these things when we say, "I’m ready to be a wife." I encourage you to get closer to God have a relationship with Him, so you can hear from Him. Ask God to show you, you, to see how you can fix how you are feeling. I encourage you to speak out of your mouth who you are as a woman of God. Just know that God is already working it out, without God, it just won’t work. So, keep God in front of your marriage and of your stages of healing, and He will lead you.

Stay tuned for more about Mrs. Lashawn, we have many series and fun projects coming up! I believe that people need to hear the story of restoration. And this is just the beginning of what Mrs. Jennigns has to say or offer!
